Riyad Hossain, Staff Reporter: Police have arrested Palash Debnathin in extortion in Satkhira on Monday night. He is a Nurnagar union representative of daily kafela in Shyamnagar Upazila and vice-president of Shyamnagar Upazila Reporters Club.
According to family sources, A neighbor Anil Kumar, son of Shivpad Debnath when he protested against the cutting of trees planted on Palash’s land then filed a false extortion case against Palash Debnath and his family members.
Shyamnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Alhaj Md Nazmul Huda confirmed the incident and said, ‘Police have arrested him as he has a court warrant.’
